 Beautiful pair of antique Victorian prints each showing three little girls playing with a doll

The composition and colouring of the prints is gorgeous and shows the same three little girls a couple of years older in the second print.  They are playing with a doll in both pictures and these are very much "chocolate box" type of compositions.

I have been unable to identify the artist - the initial monogram changes slightly between the two prints, but I think it is MPG

The prints are made on board which is cut round and then I presume glued to the mount; the colours are good and true and I cannot see any fading (there is some reflection of me taking photos in glass but photos all taken in natural light without flash)

The actual prints measure approx. 19.5cm x 24cm.  They look to be nice and clean although there are some specks here and there on the mounts.  Frames look to be same age as prints but I think the tape on the back has been replaced at some point as it looks slightly "newer" than the frames and prints.  The frames are approx. 33cm x 38xm and approx. 6cm deep.  They are wooden, maybe oak, with an inner (now worn) silver painted rim.  I think the glass is original too, I can see some tiny bubbles/imperfections in it.

Chichester The Cathedral Market Cross And Tower.

The cathedral city of Sussex, like so many others, occupies a Roman site, and has a Saxon history. The foundations of the present cathedral were laid in the reign of William Rufus ; but owing to successive fires much of the present work is much later, and the spire dates from the fourteenth century. This spire is the glory of Chichester : it is 271 feet high, and of better proportions than usual. The original spire fell in 1861, and the present one is a reconstruction. The cathedral is also noticeable for its five aisles. On its north side is a remarkable detached campanile or bell-tower, built by Bishop Langton early in the fourteenth century. Chichester is also celebrated for its beautiful Market-Cross, which stands at the junction of the four main streets, and was erected by Bishop Storey about a.d. 1500..

Anne Hathaway's Cottage .

About a mile from Stratford is the little village of Shottery, where is the cottage in which lived Anne Hathaway, afterwards Shakespeare's wife. It was a boy's attachment, for he was only nineteen when they married, while she was eight years the senior. Tradition leans to the opinion that married life did not come up to youthful expectation, and it seems certain that Anne was little, if at all, with Shakespeare in London, and she is only mentioned by his will in connection with the " second-best bed." But she was once, at all events, his sweetheart; and the humble thatched cottage in which she dwelt attracts therefore that interest which surrounds all belonging to the immortal poet of Avon.

Lewes.

This old town is very picturesquely placed, on the slopes of the valley of the Sussex Ouse, and was mentioned as a stronghold in the days of Athelstan. The remains of the castle crown the hill on which the town is built ; some portion is believed to have been built by William de Warrenne, son-in-law of the Conqueror. The ruins of the old Priory are also of interest, and cover a considerable extent of ground, but there is little left save the lower part of the walls. The bones of De Warrenne and his wife were discovered in the Priory grounds during the making of the railway in the middle of this century. The race-course marks the site of the great battle fought between Henry III. and Simon de Montfort. The Telpherage line at Glynde, near Lewes, on which merchandise is conveyed electrically, is the only one of the kind in England.

Kenilworth Castle.

It is probable that no baronial ruin is so familiar by name to all English readers as the one immortalised by Sir Walter Scott. Kenilworth is about five miles from Warwick, and the Castle was first built by Geoffrey de Clinton in the time of Henry V, but it changed hands many times, and most of the present buildings were erected by John of Gaunt. It was again in the hands of the Crown when granted by Elizabeth to the Earl of Leicester, who in 1575 entertained her here at the cost of £60,000 in the manner told by Scott. In the time of Cromwell the Castle was dismantled for the sake of the materials ; after the Restoration it passed into the hands of the Earls of Clarendon, who still retain it. The noble banquetting hall, with its beautiful windows, is perhaps the finest part of this magnificent ruin..

Charlecote Hall .

This fine residence of the Lucy family is four miles from Stratford-on-Avon, and surrounded by Shakespeare associations. The poet had been poaching amongst Sir Thomas Lucy's deer, had been brought up before the knight, and in retaliation issued some scurrilous lampoon, which necessitated his departure for London. Sir Thomas was yet further satirised as Justice Shallow, for in the Merry Wives is an allusion which identifies with his, that Justice's coat of arms ! Charlecote Hall was built by this same Sir Thomas Lucy in 1558, and is a fine example of the architecture of the period. In the beautiful park are still the descendants of those deer which led the poet into trouble and gave us Justice Shallow, though probably with no more justice than accompanies many an offender's verdict upon a magistrate now..

Leamington Bridge .

Leamington, whose population in 1801 was only 315, is now one of the favourite health resorts of the Midland Counties, owing to the medicinal qualities of its celebrated saline springs. Much of the recent rapid progress, and the fine style of the houses and buildings which have lately sprung up, is due to the labours of the late Dr. Jephson, known still as " the Father of Leamington." The town is built on the banks of the Leam, from which it derives its name, the old and the newer town being separated by the river, which is here spanned by the stone bridge of three arches chosen for our illustration. The beautiful Jephson Gardens are on the banks of the stream.

Postage and Packaging

Our items are generally sent out on the same day that cleared payment is received, we will always aim to send your items out at a maximum of 3 working days.  You will be notified on the day that your goods have been dispatched via e-mail.We package items using recycled materials where possible and comply with courier packing guidelines.

Returns are accepted within 14 days of Postmark in line with the distance selling regulations (inside the EU only). Items must be returned in their advertised condition and packaging. Please note: The Return postage is at the buyers cost.

This will not apply to items that are collected by you or your agents.

If your item gets lost or damaged in the post we will replace it or refund the value of the item and postage. We may require you to sign a form or send a photo to enable us to claim from the courier.

Except as limited by statute, our liability is limited to the amount paid for the item and shipping.

1. PayPal. We prefer PayPal. We do not pass on PayPal fees to customers. 2. Cheques or Postal Orders. Sterling cheques drawn on a UK bank account or UK postal orders made payable to "Stuff U Sell" and posted to our warehouse address (see Business Seller Information below). Please include details of the item you are paying for. 3. Payment on collection. We accept payment on collection within 7 days of the auction ending.4. UK bank transfers (BACS, CHAPS of SWIFT). Please contact us for our bank details. 5. Banker's drafts. We accept sterling banker's drafts from a UK bank.

We do not accept any forms of payment other than those above. In particular, we do not accept:

1. Money transfers of any kind.2. Credit cards. Please use your credit card to fund a PayPal account and pay using that method.If you wish to collect your item in person, then you are welcome to do so, there is no charge for collections from our warehouse. Please bear in mind the following:

1. Book in advance. Please book-in by email before 1pm on the previous day so we can have your item out and ready to collect.2. Location. Unless otherwise stated in the listing, collections are from our Park Royal warehouse: Unit 8 Commercial Way, Abbey Road, London, NW10 7XF. Please note that kitchens and other large items are often for collection from other locations - please check the listing for details. We are not inside the London Congestion Charge Zone.3. Opening hours. We are open from 10am-5.30pm Monday-Friday (excluding Bank Holidays). We are closed at weekends.4. Payment. Payment on collection is fine; please have exact money if possible.5. One week to collect. You have one week to collect your item.
