Antique Mezzotint Engraving Picnic - Signed Antoine Gaymard In Gilt Gesso Frame

ANTIQUE MEZZOTINT ENGRAVING

SIGNED IN GRAPHITE BY ANTOINE GAYMARD (1878-1916)

IN HANDSOME ANTIQUE GILT GESSO ORNATE PICTURE FRAME

A top quality original colour mezzotint engraving with graphite signature under the print:-

A GAYMARD

- a Mezzotint Engraver and French Artist (1878-1916)-

the scene depicts a wealthy group on a very grand picnic in the woods serenaded by courtesans with status symbol large dogs resting at their feet - the colour are rich and opulent - a very good subject

A feature of this quality antique print is this highly ornate delicate vintage gilt and gesso wooden picture frame - glazed - it is quite delightful - the print is in good condition with great provenance and information (see below) - the frame is in a fairly good condition for its age with only a few scuffs to the gesso work - would be well worth the minor repairs to this authentic frame which has an intrinsic value of its own and especially with such a high quality vintage print - frame comes with vintage picture hooks and picture wire ready to hang
